INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A fire at an abandoned home lit up the night sky early Thursday morning on the east side of Indianapolis.

Fire crews worked 45 minutes to get the large fire in the 2300 block of North Lasalle Street - near Sherman Drive and Massachusetts Avenue - under control, Indianapolis Fire Department said.

The blaze was reported at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday, and the residence was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

Battalion Chief Joe Krebsbach estimated damage at $10,000. Code Enforcement officials ordered demolition of the remainder of the structure.

IFD and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
