SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) - Crews were at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Monday cleaning up everything from discarded bottles to forgotten couches, and a car.
IMS officials say every year they get more requests than they can use from groups wanting to clean up after the Indy 500. Groups use the opportunity to raise money.
Monday’s task was a large undertaking, with hundreds of acres of ground to clean up after a hot and crowded race day.
One couch was burned, and another was in good shape. But perhaps the strangest discovery was a couch with its windows rolled down and items on the top and drunk. IMS officials said they would work to figure out who it belonged to and when they planned to retrieve it.
