INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - UPDATE: The event is coming to a close. The motorcycists made it to Monument Circle around 2:30pm. They are now headed back to their starting point in Pendleton. Tune in to WISH-TV tonight for more on the story.

_____

Mayor Greg Ballard spoke to bikers at the kick off point for the “Ride 4 Justice” at Pendleton American Legion Sunday morning.

Originally, Ballard was scheduled to speak at the half way point of the ride at Monument Circle.

On August 6, IMPD officer David Bisard, plowed in to motorcylist killing one, Eric Wells,  and seriously injuring two others, Kurt Weekly and Mary Mills. There have been ongoing investigations to look into how the crash was handled.

Each driver participating paid $25 while each passenger paid $10 to participate. All proceeds will benefit the families of the motorcyclists involved in the deadly crash.

According to the bikers mission statement, the objective of the ride is to raise money for the victims, “and to insure that the officers that failed us (bikers) as individuals are dealt the justice they deserve.”

Police Chief Paul Ciesielski and members of IMPD will escort the riders through Marion County.

We have a crew following the ride. Stay connected to wishtv.com for updates.
