INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - One of the suspects in the south side explosion that killed two people and leveled dozens of homes has offered to voluntarily suspend her nursing license.
Monserrate Shirley, a nurse, was scheduled to appear before the Indiana State Board of Nursing on Thursday after the Indiana Attorney General filed a petition to get her license suspended.
Instead, Shirley has submitted a voluntary suspension agreement until criminal proceedings are completed.
Shirley and two others are facing a long list of felony charges after investigators said they intentionally blew up their home for insurance money. The resulting blast destroyed and damaged much of the Richmond Hill neighborhood on the south side.
The Indiana State Board of Nursing will still have to consider Shirley's proposed agreement. One board member will review it and the entire board will vote on it.
