INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police on Tuesday afternoon identified a man found dead inside a burned out truck Monday night.

James Shaw, 23, was the man found dead, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said.

The man was found around 10:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of LaSalle Street. IFD was initially called to put out the truck fire; IMPD arrived to assist. Once the fire was out, the body was discovered.

IMPD homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. Tuesday afternoon, the Marion County Coroner ruled the cause of death multiple gunshot wounds. This is now an active homicide investigation.
