INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The little boy at the center of a child neglect case died Sunday, a week after his step mother was arrested in connection to his injuries.

Officials from the Marion County coroner’s office said the 2-year-old boy died Sunday and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

The boy was discovered breathing but unconscious on May 20 in a home in the 8000 block of Sansa Street. Medics who responded told police the boy’s injuries were consistent with head trauma, potentially from abuse.

Autumn Dunn, the toddler’s step mother, told police the boy had fallen in the yard earlier that day, but didn’t appear to be injured.

Officers arrested Dunn on preliminary charges of battery and neglect.
