INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The owners of a cat shot and killed with an arrow Wednesday night are hoping for some answers. It happened in the 6400 block of Arbor Oak Drive on the southwest side of Indianapolis.
Amanda Golay says she heard it all happen on her front porch.
“I heard a big noise near the front door, and I got up and I came out,” she said. “My cat was laying on the porch with an arrow through its leg.”
Police reports show the arrow went through a leg and the cat's chest. The cat was 4 years old and named Chunk.
“Somebody had to be in my front yard, in order to do it. And it was embedded so deep, it had to be close range,” said Golay.
Golay says she didn't have the $500 it would cost for emergency surgery that night, so she was waiting until the morning to take him to a cheaper vet. He died overnight.
“It was hard; we had him a long time,” she said.
She’s not sure who shot and killed her cat, but she’s hoping to find them.
“I’d really like for it not to happen to anyone else. He was loved,” she added. Police are turning the case over to Animal Care and Control officers.
Anyone who finds evidence or has any idea about the incident is asked to call Animal Care and Control.
