INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The U.S. Christian Chaplain Association now has a branch here in the Hoosier State.
Saturday morning was the kick off ceremony.
The association promotes peace, cooperation and communication between citizens and law enforcement in an effort to reduce crime.
Hispanic churches are trying to get involved. They say in some neighborhoods communication is not only poor but not existent.
“Latino neighborhoods, Hispanics – it is the most silent community for many reasons, “ said Chaplain Gerson Cardona. “We’re saying that if you see crime, report crime. If you live under crime, report crime. Don’t live in fear.
A number of partnering law enforcement organizations were present including Shelbyville Police, the Sheriffs Department, IMPD and the Director of Public Safety Troy Riggs.
