INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A chemical spill caused quite a scare on the city's west side early Thursday.
Firefighters evacuated the Rolls Royce facility at 5601 Fortune Circle South shortly before 12:30 a.m.
Investigators said there was a problem with equipment that allowed three different types of acid to mix. The acid then ate through a container. About 10 gallons of the mixture spilled to the ground.
Twelve employees were in the plant at the time. No one was directly exposed to any of the chemicals.
Rolls Royce has several plant locations in Indianapolis. Among other things, workers build engines for planes.
