Child struck by car on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Officers responded to an accident on the east side of Indianapolis Sunday where a child was struck by a vehicle.

The accident happened in the area of 10th Street and Drexel Avenue shortly before 1:45 p.m.

Dispatchers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say a child was hit by a vehicle.

The car, a Mercedes Benz, reportedly left the roadway, went up onto the sidewalk, and struck the child. The child was taken to the hospital.

The child's injuries are not life-threatening.
