INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Potholes are pain for drivers in Central Indiana. But the city of Indianapolis is doing its part make the pesky problem disappear.

But, they need your help. Department Public Works employees have to get out and find the potholes. They would rather hear from residents who have spotted them.

By downloading the Request Indy App , you can report problems you see right away. The app will ask you a series of questions, including the category of the pothole causing you problems. You can proceed after selecting whether it’s a street, alley, side of the road or interstate pothole.

The app requires you to input the incident address. It will also ask when you noticed the condition and if the pothole caused property damage.

This year, the city has received 92 complaints about potholes. So far, DPW employees have repaired 110 potholes. They use a cold mixture made up of small stone and liquid asphalt. The cold mix used to patch the potholes won't last long.

DPW workers say after the next big snowfall, the temporary fix will be gone. When plow trucks remove the snow, the mix goes with it.

The city’s goal is to repair potholes as soon as possible. They encourage residents to help identify some of those areas by reporting potholes to the Mayor’s Action Center by phone, 317-327-4MAC, or online at www.indy.gov/potholes .
