Several roads will be closed and a siren will sound on Sunday morning as a large apartment complex is imploded.

Officials will implode the Keystone Towers complex at 8 a.m. Sunday. Beginning at 7:50 a.m., residents around the towers will likely hear a series of sirens warning of the impending implosion.

Also Sunday morning, several roads will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. for the implosion. The following roads will be closed from 7 a.m. until at least 8:30 a.m.:

  • Keystone Avenue between 46th Street and Binford Boulevard
  • 46th Street between Keystone Avenue and Binford Boulevard
  • Binford Boulevard between Keystone Avenue and 46th Street
  • East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive between 46th Street and Binford Boulevard

City officials encourage people interested in watching the implosion of the 15-story building to do so from home. 24-Hour News 8 will show the implosion live with multiple cameras.

There are two public viewing areas for people who want to watch in person. People can watch at Living Water Fellowship Church, 2902 E. 46th St., and Clay’s Enterprise Auto Repair Shop, 2750 E. 46th St.

City officials are urging nearby residents and businesses to turn off air handling units five minutes before the implosion until about 30 minutes afterward because of the dust circulating in the air.
