INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - I-465 has reopened following a crash early Wednesday that injured 3 people on the city's south east side.
Shortly after 2:30 am emergency crews were dispatched to a crash in a construction zone in the 2100 block of southbound I-465.
For several hours all lanes of southbound 465 were closed near US 52, Brookville Road to allow for crash clean up.
Two state highway workers escaped serious injury when their dump truck was struck from the rear by a semi-trailer near the 48 mile marker of 465.
Terry Starks and Mark Cleary were taken to Methodist Hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the semi, David Ketchem of Ohio, was trapped in the wreckage.
IFD extrication crews were able to free him within 15 minutes and Ketchem was taken to Methodist Hospital with various injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed the right two lanes of southbound 465 were closed while highway crews performed maintenance work.
Ketchem reportedly failed to move over from one of the closed lanes.
His semi struck the rear of an INDOT dump truck which struck a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck.
The semi continued south and struck an INDOT trailer hauling lighting equipment.
The crash is still under investigation; however State Police do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
