INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An early morning fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage on Thanksgiving.

Firefighters got the call just before 8 a.m. from the 2800 block of Forest Manor Drive.

Investigators say one of the people inside the house was warming grease on the stove, walked away, and fell asleep. Another person in the house smelled smoke. They both got out unharmed.

Firefighters say the two are fortunate to escape serious injury. There were no working smoke detectors in the house.
