INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Valentine’s Day was celebrated with weddings and vow renewals Thursday in Indianapolis.

Downtown, a steady stream of couples has said, "I do" as Marion County Clerk Beth White performed civil marriage ceremonies at her office.

There was no charge, but couples were asked to make a $50 contribution to the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign.

At City Market, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard presided over a group ceremony for those who were there to renew their wedding vows on Valentine's Day.

“It’s a great moment, a lot of people have been married a lot of years,” Ballard said. “We did ours on Jan. 2. It was our 30th anniversary, and I think it struck a chord. And they asked us if we could do vows at the City Market for anyone who wanted to do it, and I said, ‘Yes.’”

The Marion County Clerk's Office announced Thursday afternoon that more than $3,150 was raised for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign at the wedding extravaganza where 74 couples were married.
