INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Six Marion County Jail inmates are facing additional charges after jail officers found them beating a man charged in the murder of a Cumberland man and his 7-year-old niece.
Jail officers found the six men punching and kicking Michael Bell in the head and face On Dec. 18, according to court documents. During the beating, Bell said he heard one of the men mention Don’s Guns.
The six inmates — Tony Miller, Andre Canady, Kobe Blake, Terry Bates, Carlos Bryant and Cameron Moore — are facing a misdemeanor battery charge for the incident and appeared in court for the charge on Thursday.
Bell had pain and swelling from the beating, along with some cuts where his skin opened around his right eye, according to court documents. Bell is one of two men charged in the murder of 21-year-old Jeremy Crane and his 7-year-old niece, Kyleigh. Jeremy Priel is the other man charged in the case.
It’s unclear why one of the inmates in the apparent beating mentioned Don’s Guns; Bell said that’s all he remembered from the incident. Don Davis, owner of Don’s Guns, provided a $10,000 reward for leads to break the murder case.
