INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The crackdown on impaired driving will continue through Labor Day.

Law enforcement agencies from throughout the Midwest will be focusing their efforts on keeping roads safe Labor Day weekend by continuing their crackdown on impaired drivers.

Through Sept. 3, agencies are participating in Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, a nationwide crackdown on impaired driving.

Impaired driving is one of America’s deadliest crimes. On average there is one alcohol-impaired driving-related fatality every 51 minutes across America, according to a release.

Research has shown that high visibility enforcement like the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign reduces alcohol-impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent.
