INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Wayne Township Fire Department was called to assist the Pike Township Fire Department with an apartment fire on the city's northwest side Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews battled the fire on the 6000 block of Apache Drive. This is near West 52nd Street and North High School Road.

The original call for the fire came in around 4:20 p.m. When crews arrived they were unable to access the fire hydrant outside of the apartments.

The hydrant was covered in ice.

Firefighters attempted to melt ice off the hydrant with a road flare but were unsuccessful.

Crews were able to access the next closest hydrant.

The fire spread from the original unit to one connected and is believed to have started in a dryer in the middle unit.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control. No injuries were reported.

Four tenants were displaced by the fire.
