SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) - Firefighters responding to an apartment fire in Speedway found three snakes inside of a cage, one of which was 10-feet-long.

Fire crews with Wayne Township arrived to the 2900 block of Consulate Lane in response to an apartment fire.

Inside firefighters found three, red-tailed Boa Constrictors inside of a cage. While fighting the apartment fire, Animal Care and Control was called to take the snakes to a secure location. Crews were also unaware of how the snakes would react in a high stress situation.

The longest of the three snakes was 10-feet-long. All are non-venomous.

No permits are required to having this sort of snake, according to Animal Care and Control.

There were no injuries reported.
