INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Marion County Health Department is investigating after a group of people reported finding spider mites in their food at a Fazoli’s.
A group of coworkers went to the Fazoli’s at 86th Street and Township Line Road on Tuesday. They told the health department they found bugs that appeared to be spider mites in their food.
Health department officials said the restaurant is aware of the issue, had contacted pest control and thought it may be tied to landscaping issues. Fazoli's had a pest control company out four times since the incident.
A food inspector is expected to go to the restaurant on Thursday to assess the situation. The report on that can’t be released for seven days.
Although the manager told the group of customers it was a problem specific to the dining area, the customers told the health department it may be a broader problem because the bugs were in their food.
The corrective action required by the restaurant will depend on what, if anything, the inspector finds.
