INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is set to announce his pick for a new justice for the state Supreme Court.
The governor's office says Daniels will make the announcement during a Friday morning news conference at his Statehouse office. This will be the third justice Daniels has appointed to the five-member court in the past two years, but attention will also be paid to whether he names a woman to what is now an all-male court.
The three finalists picked by the state judicial nominating commission are: Tippecanoe County Judge Loretta Rush, Hamilton County Judge Steven Nation and Indianapolis attorney Geoffrey Slaughter.
Whoever is picked will replace Justice Frank Sullivan, who is stepping down after 19 years on the court.
