Dense fog delays dozens of schools

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Dozens of school districts across Indiana have delayed their openings as dense fog is slowing travel in much of the state.

The National Weather Service says rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Isaac over the Labor Day weekend combined with light winds is to blame for Tuesday morning's fog. The weather service says visibilities could be a quarter of a mile or less in many spots, with the fog expected to dissipate by midmorning.

Schools are generally delaying their openings by two hours.

Rainfall totals for Saturday and Sunday topped 4 inches in the Evansville area, with 1 inch to 3 inches of total rainfall in much of southern and central Indiana. The state's northern tier saw only light rain.
