INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The president of Indianapolis’ Downtown Inc. will step down from her post in a first of its kind transition for the organization targeted for June.

Tamara Zahn has overseen the group’s operations since its inception and says she’s ready for a break from the demanding schedule.

"This is a good time to make this change," said Zahn. "IDI has achieved significant accomplishments in the past 19 years, culminating in Downtown's peak performance on the world stage during Super Bowl 2012. We have a strong, experienced staff and an engaged board to keep things moving forward," she said.

Zahn’s leadership and achievements have not escaped notice.

"The contributions to our community by Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. are unique and unduplicated and Tamara's leadership has added great value," said Mayor Greg Ballard. "When we are trying to recruit new businesses to our city, people always come away impressed with our vibrant Downtown and amazed at the excitement it generates for the entire region."

Zahn will stay at her post until a replacement has been named. A nationwide search for her replacement will be conducted by DHR International and a local search committee.
