INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Second Annual Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service was held Friday morning.
Governor Mike Pence and former Colts Linebacker Gary Brackett were among those pitching in at the event at Watkins Park Family Center.
More than 100 volunteers helped with various painting projects and picked up trash around the city – all in honor of the civil rights leader.
“As we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I can think of no better way than to roll our sleeves up and heading out and making a difference in the neighborhoods on this day of service,” said Governor Mike Pence. “Just grateful to be here and I'm grateful to see so many Hoosiers out living that example in this community and all over the state of Indiana.”
Martin Luther King Junior Day is Monday.
