INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A man is facing charges after he tried to flee from troopers and then crashed his vehicle into a bridge.

Late Saturday night, officers observed a 200 Ford Expedition traveling at a high rate of speed along I-65 northbound.

The driver of the vehicle drove around barricades and almost struck a squad car before continuing on to westbound I-70.

The driver failed to stop for officers and exited at Harding Street, ultimatley crashing into a bridge at Kentucky Avenue and Belmont Street.

The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Jeremiah R. Casmire of Indianapolis, was taken to Wishard Hospital. Casmire underwent surgery for injuries he sustained in the crash.

According to a release from the Indiana State Police, troopers reported observing signs and symptoms of impairment in the driver and a blood draw was obtained.
