INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A 21-year-old driver is in the hospital after driving her car off the interstate and into a semi truck.

According to the Wayne Township Fire Department, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday morning on I-70 Westbound, near the High School Road overpass.

Officials say the woman lost control of her vehicle and went off the roadway and onto an embankment off I-465, before hitting a semi truck.

The semi swerved off the road and came to a stop in a ditch. Both drivers were able to exit the vehicles on their own before responding crews arrived on scene.

The woman was transported to Wishard Hospital in stable condition with minor injuries.

Police have not released the woman's BAC but believe she may have been intoxicated.
