INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The worst drought in decades is fueling a business boom for Indiana's well-drilling companies, whose crews are working long hours to dig new, deeper wells or install new pumps for homeowners whose faucets have run dry.
Moss Well Drilling co-owner Bruce Moss says his Noblesville company's business is up about 25 percent over last year and his crews have been working long hours to keep up with demand for their services.
While well-drillers are thriving, the drought has dried up business for many lawn-care and landscaping companies, including Ross Lawns & Landscaping in New Castle.
Owner Aaron Stigall says his business has been so hard-hit by parched lawns and watering restrictions he's only hired six workers this summer, down from the 18 he hired each of the past three years.
