INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis man involved in a fatal crash has been arrested and charged with drunk driving.

Indiana State Police were called out to the scene on I-465 eastbound near Keystone Avenue at around 10:35 p.m. on Monday.

According to investigators, Eboni Dodson was driving a white 1991 Oldsmobile when she experienced steering problems with her car. She tried to pull over to the side of the road, but the front of the vehicle was sticking out in the right lane.

Desean Cody who was a passenger in the car tried to push the rest of the vehicle out the roadway while Dodson tried to help steer.

Moments later, Tunishia Shaw, who was driving a yellow 2001 Pontiac Aztec, pulled over to offer assistance.

Both Cody and Shaw tried to push the car out the roadway when they noticed a truck driving right at them. Both Cody and Shaw jumped over the guardrail to avoid being hit.

The driver of the truck, Curt Carlson, struck the Oldsmobile on the driver’s side. Investigators said debris flew off Carlson’s truck into the roadway and struck a passing vehicle driven by Rebecca Dixon.

Dodson was rushed to Methodist Hospital and died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Shaw, who jumped out of the way of the oncoming truck, was treated and released for cuts and lacerations.

Cody, Dixon and Carlson were all not injured.

Police later determined Carlson was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has been charged with operating while intoxicated causing death and public intoxication.
