INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The fate of indicted Indianapolis businessman Tim Durham is in the hands of the jury. They got the case just before 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Durham, his business partner James Cochran and company Chief Financial Officer Rick Snow face fraud and conspiracy charges that could put them in jail for decades. The three are accused of using Akron, Ohio-based Fair Finance as their personal piggy bank, funding a lifestyle of big mansions and fancy cars.
Government prosecutors took a week to put on their case. The defense only called one witness.
Just before the case went to the jury, Durham attorney John Tompkins asked for a mistrial because Cochran attorney Bill Daisy said in his closing arguments Tuesday that if there was a conspiracy his client was not a part of it. But it seemed to those in the courtroom that he said "there was a conspiracy". The motion was denied.
We'll bring you the verdict when it is rendered. Check back with wishtv.com for updates.
