INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Fairgoers can experience what an earthquake is like at this year's Indiana State Fair. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security booth includes an Earthquake simulator.

The IDHS is partnering with the Indiana Geological Survey at Indiana University to present the experience. The simulator gives thrill-seekers the intense shaking that can occur during an earthquake, but in a safe atmosphere.

“The earthquake simulator provides a safe, yet realistic earthquake experience,” said IDHS Executive Director Joe Wainscott. “It shows the value of being ready for an earthquake, and for any type of disaster or emergency. ”

The booth is located near the covered bridge. It also includes exhibits and displays about earthquakes, fire safety, and being ready for emergencies and disasters.

However, the booth will not be available for the entirety of the state fair. You can visit the booth through Sunday, August 12.
