INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Close to 200 people turned out for a fundraiser Monday night for slain Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer David Moore.
Friends and family showed up at Houlihan's Castleton to raise money for a memorial fund being put together by Moore's parents.
David Moore was shot Jan. 23 during a traffic stop on the city's east side. He died three days later. His organs were donated to several recipients.
Houlihan's made calls to the Moores the past few days, and when they gave their approval, Houlihan's set up the event.
Spencer Moore, David’s father, said he and his wife will be evaluating how the money will be spent.
“We're going to evaluate this probably in a month or two, see what continuation we can do, something for David, a memorial of him, just to help people remember him for the person that he was,” Spencer Moore said.
The executive chef at Houlihan's said Monday night’s event was the biggest event of its kind he's hosted.
