INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The State Fair Commission says it will permanently move its outdoor grandstand fair concerts indoors to the Pepsi Coliseum.
But the move won't happen until 2014.
The announcement to move the concerts indoors comes 60 days or so before the final investigation report is issued on the August state fair stage rigging collapse.
The reason the move won't take place until 2014 is because the Pepsi Coliseum will be going through a major indoor renovation that should begin this fall.
For the past three years, the fair commission has been discussing renovating the 70 plus year old facility. Today the commission voted to move ahead and hire a firm to draw up design plans.
The 8,000 seat facility will be updated to make it more family friendly.
