INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A fallen officers grave site has been the target of some possible thieves.
Many friends, family and members of the community left metals and mementos on David Moore's memorial for the past year or so. When his father, Spencer, came out Saturday morning he noticed a lot of them were missing.
He tells 24 Hour News 8 that the crown hill cemetery staff cleaned after the Memorial Day weekend and were told specifically not to touch Moore's or any of the fallen hero's grave sites.
Spencer says he's confused, but David’s mother is very upset saying "mom's taking it pretty hard cause she feels that its sort of a attack on him personally to take this items from people who cared for him that left them for him as a memento."
Crown Hill Cemetery did tell us that they have a very good relationship with those families in the “Fallen Heroes” area of the cemetery.
Their president, Keith Norwalk, tells 24 Hour News 8, that he’s “sadly confident” it’s the work of thieves. He says that although there is security, he encourages families not to leave important or sentimental items at grave sites.
