INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Community members took advantage of the 15th Annual Family Health Fair sponsored by Wishard Health Services at the IU School of Medicine on Saturday.
Residents who turned out for the event had the opportunity to get a free flu shot. Those who attended also learned about dental health, vision check-ups and disease screenings.
“It doesn’t just prevent influenza,” Dr. Palmer Mackie with the Westside Health Clinic said. “If that’s all it did that would be worth it but it prevents heart attack, stroke, especially in people who are older and have health problems. When you couple that with health promotion, prevention aspects, cancer screenings, eye vision, and dental care, it’s a great opportunity.”
The event was held at the Westside Health Center and was aimed to energize the community towards better health.
