Family dog dies in fire

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.(WISH) - Fire killed a family dog and destroyed a southwest side home early Saturday morning.

The started around  2 am in the 35 hundred block of Busy Bee lane which is on the city 's southwest side.

Investigators believe the fire started in the attic.

Flames destroyed the entire roof of the house.

Investigators say working smoke detectors helped alert the family to the fire.

The family was able to get out of the house safely, but all of their possessions were destroyed.

Damage is estimated to be around 150-thousand dollars.

Investigators are still trying to determine a cause.
