INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A family of five is safe partly because of a father's efforts to get his family out of a burning south side home.
Firefighters rushed to the home in the 6700 block of Smithfield Boulevard around 4:30 Monday morning.
IFD says a couple and their teenage children were inside the home when the father, who was watching TV, spotted the fast-moving fire out his back window.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control after about a half hour.
Investigators are looking into what exactly started the fire.
