INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Fire Department says a house caught fire after a man fell asleep while heating grease on a stove.
Firefighters arrived to the home in the 1900 block of North Parker at 5 a.m. Saturday morning. The family told firefighters that they woke up to find the kitchen on fire and immediately evacuated the home.
Firefighters say the family is safe and did not suffer an injuries. However, the fire did leave about $15,000 worth of damage.
IFD would like to remind locals to never leave a burning stove unattended.
