INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - One person is dead following a crash Thursday morning between a pickup truck and a semi on the city's west side.
Around 4:15 a.m., Wayne Township Fire, EMS and IMPD officers responded to a head-on crash at West Rockville Road and Gasoline Alley.
A pickup truck crashed into a semi at that intersection.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found the driver of the pickup was reportedly unresponsive and trapped inside the wreckage. Rescue crews began the task of trying to free the driver. Wayne Township Medics said the driver was dead at the scene.
The semi was eastbound on Rockville Road. The pickup truck was westbound.
Early indications are that the semi driver stated the pickup was in his lane.
The semi driver said he made an effort to avoid the crash but the pickup driver made a maneuver back into the path of his semi.
The semi driver was not injured.
Rockville Road was closed at Holt Road as a result of the incident, but all roads in the area have since reopened.
Investigators continue to look into the cause of the crash.
