Fire crews battle scrap metal fire on SW side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Firefighters battled a scrap metal fire at the OmniSource plant on the southwest side Friday night.

Fire crews were called to the 2100 block of South Holt Road around 6 p.m.

Firefighters say their were no injuries but they were forced to fight the fire from 50 yards away due to the danger of propane tanks that may have been in the scrap heap.

Police closed northbound traffic on Holt while crews worked on the fire.
