Fire damages east side apartment

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Fire Department is investigating a fire that occurred in the 1400 block of East Grube Street at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Firefighters say a resident was sleeping when she woke up to her apartment filled with smoke. The woman alerted her family and neighbors and called 911.
IFD had the fire under control within 20 minutes and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters would like to warn locals to have a fire escape plan in the event of a fire.
