INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Fire forced an Indianapolis man and his dog to flee their southside Indianapolis home Friday morning.

Cody Metzger told firefighters he smelled smoke, then found his garage on fire. He called 911 at about 10:30 a.m. Friday. When fire crews arrived at the home in the 5800 block of Harlan Street, near Edgewood and Madison avenues they found the flames had spread into the home’s attic.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in half an hour. Battalion Chief Steve Bradley estimated damage at $120,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
