INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis family of 4 is temporarily displaced from their home after a fire in their apartment early Sunday morning.

The Indianapolis Fire Department was dispatched to the 3400 block of Sherburne Circle in response to an apartment fire. When firefighters arrived, there was smoke showing from the Abney Lake Apartments.

Firefighters responded to the fire on the first floor of the building and had the flame under control within 15 minutes. The resident of the apartment was not home at the time.

Responding officers searched the upstairs apartment and found a family of four asleep in the second floor unit.

The family was safely evacuated and no injuries have been reported. Firefighters are helping the family find temporary housing.
