INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Fire forced guests out of the Comfort Inn Hotel on the east side Saturday night.
The fire broke out shortly after 9 pm in an unoccupied room at 2295 North Shadeland, forcing guests to leave the building for at least an hour.
Hotel workers directed firefighters to the 4th floor where they found heavy smoke in the hallway and fire in one of the rooms.
29 year old Danielle Humbles was staying on the 4th floor and told firefighters that she heard the smoke detectors activate and saw the smoke.
Humbles was at the hotel for her daughter's 11th birthday party.
She grabbed the 8 girls, still dressed in swimsuits, and evacuated the building.
Investigators say the fire caused about 20-thousand dollars.
No one was hurt.
The fire is still under investigation.
