INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -
Firefighters rescued two Chihuahuas and a pit bull from a burning duplex on the city’s east side Monday afternoon.
The first unit on the scene in the 5000 block of East New York Street reported they could see smoke and flames coming from the house.
The initial dispatch indicated someone was trapped inside the home; firefighters on the scene learned that everyone was out of the burning structure. The resident then told firefighters her three dogs were still inside.
Firefighters say the fire started on the stove and spread quickly.
The dogs were not injured in the fire.
