More than 100 firefighters awarded

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - More than 100 firefighters and several civilians were honored Friday night for their work in 2012.

The Indianapolis Fire Department held its 21st Annual IFD Recognition Ceremony at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.

The more than 100 firefighters and several citizens were honored in an awards presentation.

Mayor Greg Ballard, Public Safety Director Troy Riggs, IFD Chief Brian Sanford and the Editor of Fire Engineering Magazine, Retired Chief Bobby Halton spoke at the ceremony.

Mayor Ballard accepted an award on behalf of "The Citizens of Indianapolis" for the response to the South Side Explosion in Nov. 2012.

More than 112 awards were given throughout the evening.
