PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police has confirmed that two have died at the scene of a crash, one of which was a child, and three people are injured in a wreck that involved four vehicles on I-70 near the 43-mile-marker.
According to Indiana State Police Sergeant Joe Watts, among the dead are a 3-year-old and her mother.
Among the injured are the semi driver who is listed as in critical condition after he went through the windshield. The two others injured in the crash are being treated for non-life threatening injures.
One lane is open heading east bound at this time.
No names have been released, however police believe the mother is a 49-year-old woman.
If residents are heading east on I-70 and are able to reach SR 243 (Exit 37) or SR 231 (Exit 41), take that and head north to Hwy 40.
If heading west on I-70 and are able to reach Exit 51, take that exit and head north on N. Little Point Rd., CR 1100 W. to Hwy 40.
