INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - With heavy rain in central Indiana Friday morning, some area streets were overwhelmed with water, making conditions treacherous for commuters.
Northbound lanes on Keystone Avenue just south of Kessler Boulevard were closed during the early morning hours, but some drivers were ignoring barriers and driving through the water anyway.
At various locations in the city, motorists stranded by the water called police for help throughout the early morning. One woman had to be rescued from her vehicle that was partially submerged in the water after flood waters swept her off the road in the 5200 block of Winterberry Drive, near 59th Street and Moller Road.
In Boone County, Ind. 39 was closed due to an accident, and emergency officials were warning of flooded roads, 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Reporter of Lebanon reports.
The rain was moving into eastern Indiana, and once it moves out, sunshine will build throughout the day, continuing unseasonably warm temperatures, Forecast 8 meteorologist Ken Brewer said.
