Former EMTs given preferential hiring

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - The mayor of Lawrence announced Wednesday that former Lawrence EMTs will be given preferential hiring at Monarch Beverage, a growing distribution company on Pendleton Pike in Lawrence. 

Open jobs at the company are in sales, transportation and warehouse and include benefits and paid vacation.

Mayor Dean Jessop made cuts in the 2012 city budget which resulted in the layoffs of 24 Lawrence EMTs .

Lawrence firefighters are now providing emergency medical services.
