INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Organizers with the Indiana Youth Institute say tragedies like the Sandy Hook shootings in December moved them to act.
On Tuesday, a forum with local police and the Indiana Youth Institute will be held to educate Hoosiers on how to survive an active shooter situation.
Police officers will talk about how to lockdown an area, how to deal with a shooter and how to escape.
Their goal is to give anyone in a life threatening situation the ability to make decisions to help them survive.
Additionally, speakers will be on hand to discuss mental health concerns after a child experiences trauma.
Tuesday’s event is free and open to the public:
Reservations are required. To make a reservation, contact: Debbie Jones djones@iyi.org at (317) 396-2729, or Lela Smith lsmith@iyi.org at (866) 431-5752
