INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Family and Social Services Administration is named in a lawsuit for the wrongful death of a toddler who died this year.

Juan Carlos Cardenas drowned in February. The 1-year-old boy died in a baptismal pool at Praise Fellowship Assembly of God. The boy was part of the church’s day care program.

After Cardenas’ death, FSSA pulled funding for children to attend the day care. The recently filed lawsuit claims FSSA inspections were negligent.

The parents’ attorney, Stephen Wagner, confirmed they have reached a settlement with Praise Fellowship; however, Wagner did not disclose the amount.
